We believe this book to be a seminal work in the study of human relationships. Professor Hinde, though a biologist in training, integrates the study of human relationships by psychiatrists, anthropologists, sociologists, social psychologists and child developmentalists to construct a balanced and comprehensive argument. This particular work paved the way for a more systematic body of knowledge, arguably a more coherent science of relationships.
